Expectant mum of three and founder of Oz Baby Trends, Eva Van Strijp, has been selected as a finalist in the 2011 Bio-Oil AusMumpreneur Awards.
The 2011 Bio-Oil AusMumpreneur Awards presented by connect2mums celebrate and recognize Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business, product development, services and innovation in businesses from Australia and New Zealand. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
“As a mother of three, all of the products that I sell come backed by my own personal experience and product knowledge. I recommend the Close brand from a parent’s perspective, as well as from my past experience as a retailer of the products.
Although on paper we are simply wholesale distributors for an award-winning brand of baby-care products, in reality we are much more than that. We service our retailers and their customers on a more personal level, guiding new parents in the areas of breastfeeding, sleeping and settling, weaning, teething, toilet training, skincare and infant development.
We are constantly striving to improve customer service and information flow to both retailers and the public regarding baby-wearing and cloth nappying. Our mission is to raise awareness of both practices as beneficial to the child, the parent and our society.”
There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Eva Van Strijp explains, “I am inspired daily by my children, who, as the end users of the products we sell, are directly affected by them. Their positive response to these products encourages my passion for instinctive parenting.”
It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family and Eva gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise.”The challenge to prioritise is constant but I am continually looking for better ways to organise and prioritise so that I can enjoy life and get the most out of my business. Each week I stumble across fantastic new ideas from other WAHMs and try to implement the ones that complement or improve my current systems.”
